Chance To Shine

Thorughout the summer term we are taking part in the Chance to Shine Initiative, which has been set up to encourage young children to enjoy cricket. The scheme provides the school with an after school club and in school training run by professional coaches. I am very proud to be part of this scheme as it enables children to become more active and helps generate interest in cricket.

Thank you Alan Vollans for arranging all this for our school.

Congratulations Y6!

On Thursday 25th January the Y6 competed in an athletics festival at Dinnington Comprehensive School. The festival was an inter school competition between the surrounding schools in our area. Our team consisted of Josh Shepherd, Kurtis Williams, Alex Bacon, Alex Dawson, Calum Finney, Calum Batty, Reece Cope, Connor Pilkington, Matthew Preece, Kirsty Redshaw, Abbie Hubbuck, Serena Baker, Katie McNulty, Jade Bower, Bethany Smyth, Charlotte Chambers, Emma Johnson, Tyler Knowles and Rianna Wilson. The children competed in many different events, for example the javelin and many relay races.

The children did exceptionally well and won the whole festival. As a result of winning the festival, they are now competing in the Rotherham Finals taking place at Herringthorpe Leisure Centre on Monday 5th February.

I am very proud of all the team and wish them every success in the next round of the festival. They showed great sportmanship and determination and I can't wait to take them to the finals!

Congratulations to Bethany and Jack!

Jack Mason and Bethany Smyth have been attending the Gifted and Talented Multi Skills Club at Dinnington Comprehensive with Miss Matthews. They have both been selected by Miss Matthews to attend the Wickersley Sports Academy which is an excellent opportunity for both of them. I wish them luck and hope they maintain their positive attitude to sport.

Congratulations to Bethany Smyth
