Literacy

Come and see what we do in school...

Please keep an eye out for dates of workshops for parents and carers. We are very keen to share with you the way your child is taught and the methods we use in school to make sure every child makes progress in reading and writing. The workshops will take place in the evening and share with you some of the teaching methods used as well as give you practical advice for helping your child at home.

We will also be inviting parents and carers to come and see literacy lessons in action. A letter will be sent home soon.

In the meantime, if you need any ideas, resources or information regarding literacy in school please see Mr. French, submit an enquiry using the link to your left or e mail Mr French at apjafrench@rgfl.org

At the bottom of this page you can find two documents - one is list of prompts you may want to use when listening to your child read at home. They are good discussion starters and focus the children's minds on the kinds of skills they should be developing as successful readers. This will be updated soon to make it more useful!

The other is a leaflet giving you ideas about how to help your child improve their writing skills.
